Netherlands and into Germany

As you drive along the north coastal road of the Netherlands there are no ocean views. You travel behind the large dunes, dykes and canal systems that are holding back the Waddenzee - the intertidal zone of the North Sea. The Wadden Sea is the largest unbroken system of mud and sand flats listed as a UNESCO Heritage site and conservation area.
